The AI (Artificial Intelligence) Revolution is Here!

In the last 2 monthly mailouts I have focused a bit on AI. In the February issue I spoke about Chat GPT and how Microsoft had just invested 11 billion plus in the technology. In the March mailout I spoke about Dall-E 2 and how the computer can now draw/create artwork for you based on a text description in the style of your choice.

I also mentioned in February how Microsoft planned to implement AI technology in Microsoft Edge (their web browser) and also Bing (Microsoft’s answer to Google) in the following month or two.

Well the wait is over. It’s now a reality and it’s here and available to everyone (I hope you are ready).

SIDE NOTE: Chat GPT was launched on 30th Nov 22. By the 4th Nov 22 had over 1 million users and by January 2023 had over 100 Million users. One of the fastest user adoptions of a new technology of all time.

Microsoft Adds Artificial Intelligence to Search

Microsoft’s search engine now essentially has the ability of carrying on a conversation and writing articles with Open AI’s next-level chat bot tech (Chat GPT 4) implemented into both the search engine “Bing” and “Microsoft Edge” in an effort to challenge the search dominance of Google.

How do I access the new AI in “Bing” and “Microsoft Edge?”

One way to access the AI component of the Bing search engine in Microsoft Edge is to simply click on the letter “B” on search on the taskbar of a Windows 11 Computer. (requires Windows version 22H2).

AI Access using the “B” icon

Another way if you don’t see this search box on the taskbar in Windows 11 is to simply start “Microsoft Edge” and enter the web address www.bing.com.au

Either way you should be presented with a screen as below.

The new AI has the ability to help you write poetry, write an email, help you write an essay, create promotional material for advertising, website and blogs, create copy for sales brochures and flyers, write a resume, can even write code and provide you with information on just about any topic you can imagine.

Since these features mentioned above have only been available for a few days we will be adding training content on this new feature to our “Windows 11 – Computer Essentials” course running next Monday 17th April.

As you can see, a lot can change in only a couple of months with technology, and we are constantly updating information at our end to keep our clients up to date with many of the latest features and better ways to do things.

We have Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint courses running next week so if you haven’t completed any training with us recently (in the last year or two) you may be surprised to see how many new features have been added and how many faster ways there are to get the job done and save time and frustration.
